Updates
You can now follow Poke Assistant on Twitter @Poke_Assistant and stay up to date with site/tool updates.
03.02.19 Updated movesets and move stats in line with the latest Niantic changes
26.12.18 Reworked the Ultra League CP table into a full PvP Team Builder tool for all three leages. Added a discussion on PvP Strategy and will continue expanding on it.
New
for planning your PvP teams in all leagues and read up on
and why lower IVs can be better.
15.12.18 Updated わざ一覧 to show all PvP related stats. Top moves by energy per turn (EPT) in PvP or damage per energy (DPE) dynamic and sortable.
02.12.18 Added the Ultra League CPs and early thoughts on the initial teaser details provided by Niantic concerning Pokemon Go PvP.
16.10.18 I hope you're all having fun hinting the first wave of Gen4. PA has been updated with the latest stats for Gen4 Pokemon so that IV calcs work and your personal progress on the new sinnoh medal can now be track in Trainer Stats. I'm surprised there are no new moves in the game_master yet so haven't pushed movesets up yet on assumption that they may change. I'm seeing changes coming through the game_master and we still haven't seen the re-introduction of the stat refresh so Gen4 Pokemon currentlz have a different stat Ebase than Gen1-3. everything is in a state of flux at the moment but we'll push updates as Niantic finalizes its own.
6.10.18 The ベスト攻撃者 now also includes all legacy movesets in its calculations. Additionally, we've added a Legacy moves page to summarise legacy moves and when they were removed.
21.05.18 All 18 Alola forms added. Fixed the slider on the IV calculator to max at level 40 instead of 40.5.
19.05.18 Blast burn added for Charizard. It's a fantastic move but still not enough to make up for his stat shortfall compared to Flareon, Moltres or Entei. Check out the best attacker tools and battle simulator to se ehow it stacks up.
02.04.18 Hey all, I hope you are having fun working through your first mythical quest. The new questing feature is a fantastic addition to the game. You can now track your progression with the questing medal at Trainer Stats. Fixed a bug in the わざ一覧 page so that Pokemon forms are now correctly displayed eg. clicking on Fire Weatherball now correctly shows Fire Castform as having that move.
18.02.18 Forms now acounted for site-wide, including eventual mega-evolutions, Mega Mewtwo Y might get a nerf with almost 7000 CP. View a full list of all forms here. Individual Pokedex pages have been set up for all forms that are more than just a cosmetic change. For forms already in the game, e.g. Castform - Sunny, all tools now handle them correctly. Much form collecting to be done now and in the future.
15.12.17 Total re-write of the ベスト攻撃者 tool. Two primary goals of the re-write:
1. Make it much more dynamic and useful for users. Rather than just providing the top 25 counters, the tool now provides the top 120 then generates a top 30 from this list based on what you select for (i) weather and (ii) Glass cannon factor (GCF). The GCF lets the user decide how much they care about taking damage: got a raid? set it to zero and just list Pokemon on the ability to DPS; low on potions? set it to 1 and get a balanced attacker that doesn't take heavy hits.
2. Make it more accurate. The best attacker tool was the very first tool PA built way back during Pokemon Go beta. Back then we really only knew Pokemon types and their base stats. Formulas for actual in-game damage were not yet known. We've updated the best counter with the latest formulas. The differences are slight but helpful. Zapdos was always shown as a good attacker against Vaporean, but now Zap Cannon movesets are rightly listed above Thunder movesets, more in-line with the Battle Sim.
It's easy to get stuck into battle simulation math and lose sight of what is actually useful information. The focus on the rebuild of this tool was to ignore the noise and put what the user needs to know right infront of them: "what are good counters to Pokemon X?". I'm really happy with how the new best counter tool came out. If you have any suggestions while the code is fresh in my mind, please leave some feedback.
14.12.17 Updates made to the Battle Sim. Fixed a bug where special moves were ignoring the cooldown set by having cast a normal move. Fixed a bug where changing the weather was causing the selected Pokmon to reset to defaults. Added a readout of the average EPS and DPS over the fight for each participant. Sped up the battling script by a factor of 10. Updated the tool desciption slightly. Detailed math is shown at the bottom of the tool.
13.12.17 Large under-the-hood change to the internationalization of the site. Two biggest effects are: (1) users no longer need to sign in to change the language as this preference is now stored in a cookie and (2) the language can be changed easily from the top nav bar. These changes were implemented to reduce friction for users. In addition we fixed a bug where the drop down menu's would cache a language when you first arrived at the site, then not clear that cache even after you changed the language. If you have any issues or surprises with the website's treatment of languages, please lodge descriptive feedback and will crush any remaining bugs asap.
12.12.17 We have opened the website up to Reddit authentication in addtion to Google. When we first launched PA it was in the early days of beta and the entire site was locked out to anyone except those who logged in with the same Google account as that which had been invited into the Pokemon Go beta. This was done to stay within the terms of the beta test, not leak information publically and to keep users safe from angering Niantic. That was a long time ago now, and since public launch of the game, 90% of the site is entirely open to users without even logging in.
For those who want to log in and use Trainer Stats and store preferences for battle, we understand not everyone uses Google so we've added Reddit as an alternate path. We've also tidied up the top bar a little, adding some quick-access log in/out functionality for users with multiple accounts.
11.12.17 Catch chance updated to give a dynamic chart read-out of your cummulative chance to have caught a Pokemon after multiple throws (I had some really bad luck with Ho-Ho today and couldn't beleive it :P).
10.12.17 Best defenders updated so you can see all Pokemon instead of just the top 100 defenders, added clicky boxes to filter out by generation.
9.12.17 Battle sim updated so you can see the significant effects of weather on battle.
8.12.17 Added a summary analysis of the newly annouced weather effects.
3.11.17 Bumped up the max Pokemon level from 39 to 39.5 in line with game changes.
22.10.17 New medlas added to Trainer Stats (Hoenn and Battle Legend). Ho-oh nerfed: Atk263->239, Def301->274, Stam212->193. Gen 3 base stats updated. Moves added for the holloween pokemon ghost Pokemon. Work and real life hasn't left a lot of time for development lately but I've got a long list of fun ideas and 7 weeks off over Christmas; I can not wait. Have fun doubling your candy through Halloween guys.
14.08.17 Added a display of all Pokemon caught by Trainer Stats users by pokemon type (over half a billion Pokemon as I write this). Updated the data base inline with the nerfs to Mewtwo's stats Atk330->300, Def200->182, Stam212->193 and updated Bellossom's buddy distance from 1km to 3km. Also took the time to rewire the Maximum Pokemon level site-wide. Previously maximum CP etc was calculated at level 40.5, now its shown at level 39; the actual current in-game maximum achievable. While doing this the site has been tweaked so that when Niantic decides to lift this maximum, it'll be a one-line instant change for PA and its users.
30.07.17 After a great point from a user (credit trainer falloutb0y), we've added Damage per Energy (DPE) site-wide for charge moves. This statistic is often more valuable than DPS for charge moves. Updated the Battle Sim to show where your Pokemon earns its energy and deals its damage. Updated the チャンスをキャッチ to feature the legendaries, golden razzberries, premiere balls and updated the interface a little. Fixed a coupe of bugs: (i) Generations are properly filtered on a the Pokedex (ii) Log in issues after Google updated its protocol (iii) Fixed an issue for where if users left one of the new medals blank in trainerstats, the record wouldn't save.
2.07.17 Quick little quality of life change to the Pokedex that I didn't realise I wanted until a user I met at a raid asked for it. You can now filter by type on the main Pokedex List. You can now also search for Pokemon directly using the field at the top of the page and at the top of every individual Pokedex entry.
24.06.17 First round of Global Stats are live. Added the new medals to Trainer Stats. Medals that were added after the game launch now have their launch date used as a minimum date for calculating your progression over time. E.g. previously a trainer on started when the game launched would be getting pessimistic forecasts on their Johto medal since the medal wasn't progressable for months after they started playing. This has been fixed for the following medals (Johto, Unown, Delinquent, Berrymaster, Gymleader). Trainerstats personal stats chart now defaults to only showing a couple medals for cleanliness, users can still click to show/hide which ever they wish. Handling infinities better for when a trainer hasn't progressed a medal at all (damn you unown).
20.06.17 Bug fix for some users where "creating new trainer stat" was just editting their first record. Nerfed STAB from 1.25 to 1.20. Boosted effective attacks from 1.25 to 1.40. Resists from 0.8 to 0.714 and "immunity" from 0.8 to 0.51.
17.06.17 Trainer Stats released.
03.06.17 Added in the latest Egg Chart and cross linking to Pokedex pages.
14.05.17 Minor update, got rid of that annoying auto-zoom that Safari has been doing on input boxes. iPhone users should have more consistent experience and no longer need to force zoom out all the time. Change implemented as a part of the iPhone App Alpha testing we're doing at the moment.
10.05.17 Well that was much easier than I anticipated. PA's Android App is up for beta testing. I'm thoroughly impressed in how easy it was to use Turbolinks as a simple plug to a "native" android app. Effectivley we instantly got an app with 100% of the website's functionality with 0.001% of the effort, and now where we want, we can chose to go in and pick-n-choose things to code nativley in Java. Currently I'm very interested in machine learning and artificial neural networks. I have some fun ideas for their application to possible services for PA to provide. This will take some time though, and I'm sure Niantic will drop a major update bomb before then that will require attention on our core toolset. In the mean time, test out the Android app, drop us a request if you'd like the iPhone app and generally keep the feedback rolling in. Cheers.
07.05.17 Hi guys. Big under the hood changes have been pushed through. In theory, you shouldn't noticed anything except perhaps a slight increase in site speed. Poke Assistant has just been bumped up to Rails 5 and Turbolinks 5. Server side I'm noticing some nice performance improvements from Rails 5, and Turbolinks 5 brings some interesting opportunities in the form of potential Android+iPhone apps in the future. Definitely something I'm interested in tinkering with. These 'back-end' changes are my main focus for now. There are things I want to do with the Battle Sim and Best Counters tools, but I'm reluctant to pour in effort ahead of what may well be a pretty big shakeup in battle mechanics. Keep the feedback and suggestions rolling in and we'll keep making Poke Assistant better for us all.
25.04.17 New Evolutions items for looking at all the evolutions that require items for now and up to Gen 6. Added the evolution items to the 進化シミュレーター and Pokedex Pages pages as well. Tweaked the チャンスをキャッチ so that Razz Berries now affect the colour of the ring, in-line with the change in the game. A lot of under the hood changes including a switch from disk to memory caching for the server. Site speed even tighter. One bad cache left the IV Calculator out of action for a few hours. Thank you to the torrents of users who's messages I woke up to. Sorry about that error, won't happen again.
19.04.17 New Inter-generation Evolutions for looking at all the intergenerational evolutions in the Pokemon series complete with their calculated stats. Much better linking throughout the site now using the new Pokedex Pages for each species as a hub. We've had a few requests to have the legacy moves displayed on the IV calculator and the battle simulator and this has been updated. Also patched an error when users were battle simmulating the same species against iteself. Many thanks to all those that take the time to provide feedback. In addition, if you have been enjoying Poke Assistant and want to give back it is now possible to Donate to the team and help keep us fueled with coffee for future updates.
15.04.17 Big update batch today. All future gen Pokemon have been added to the site up to Gen 6. Big thanks to all the artists at Smogon for putting together the Gen 6 Pokemon icons in Gen 5 sprite style. I like to keep the site lean and these little 96x96 icons are beautiful. For sanity, the main Pokedex page now has checkboxes allowing you to filter by Generation. Where possible, all tools in the website have been updated to included the new Pokemon, e.g. for Stunky, you can already view Best counters, Evolution Calcs.
A big structural change is that all Pokemon names and images will now be linking back to the new individual Pokedex pages for each mon, e.g Bulbasaur. Here you can find all the details on a Pokemon and then use the relevant links out if you want to find a counter for it or battle simulate it. Site linking has been inconsistent and now its nice and predicatable. If you click on a Pokemon you now get a single page with every detail?link on it you might desire. Please provide feedback if you think we could make some changes to this new page.
A bunch of typos and smaller bits fixed around the site. Probably some more bigger changes coming in the next few days with Easter Holidays offering some relax time for coding. Happy hunting during double XP.
21.02.17 Updated database to include the new move data in game, generally increased the speed of fast attack moves.
17.02.17 Well it happened. Gen 2 dropped. Site wide update is mostly complete and all the new move data, movesets and pokemon stats are flowing through. Only one Pokemon had a stat change (Lapras nerf), all gen 1 catch chances went up. Huge changes to move DPS and optimal movesets so have a look at 技の組み合わせ and Attacker tier list to see where you want to spend your Dust. Check out the PA Localisation if you'd like to contribute the new move names for Gen 2 in Dutch, Polish, Portugues, Russian or Traditional Chinese. If you find any bugs let us know here.
31.12.16 New Battle Simulator added. Have fun playing and testing Pokemon in battles before you leave the house. We expect to be modifying this tool rapidly over the next week. Please direct feedback and ideas on this tool to the feedback portal
28.12.16 Hey guys, bit of a larger update batch and an annoucement on deleting old Poke Assistant accounts. First up is a tweak to the 個体値計算ツール to let users change the maximum level that the slider calculates to. A lot of you wanted this little quality of life change and I think it adds nicely to the tool.
We've tweaked the ベストディフェンダー table after a sharp eyed user noted we wern't adding 15 IV to the Pokemon's base stats like in other sections of Poke Assistant when calculating max HP and CP. The DPS calculation for all moves, site-wide, has been adjusted by removing an allowance for crit chance. Despite crit chance being included in data files, there's still no evidence that it has been implemented. We've removed it for now in line with the game mechanics, effects on site tools were immaterial. Plus a bunch of under-the-hood optimisations too keep things speedy.
Holidays are a great time to clean house a little and we are going to clean up the database and wipe old accounts. The purpose of a Poke Assistant account has changed over time. During the beta it was a way of keeping the website within the terms of service and only allowing in Google accounts that had been invited by Niantic into the Pokemon Go beta. Today, the purpose of an account is to save personal preferences like language or pokemon suggestions. We'll be cleaning up the database in-line with this change.
On Monday January 2nd we'll be running two clean-up commands that will run through and permanetly delete Poke Assistant accounts. The first will delete any user accounts that haven't provided feedback AND haven't used the new preference system AND haven't picked a language other than the default assigned based on their IP address. Note that all three of these requirements have to be met in order for the account to be deleted. These accounts are redundant since the user has not personalised them and need not log in to receive the same level of service.
The second command will run through and wipe an account that hasn't provided feedback AND hasn't logged-in within the last 90 days. All in all, we should free up about 200,000 accounts and the less user data we have, the better. If you don't want your account wiped, just don't trigger one of those rules on Jan 2nd, but no-one who has anything to lose (time invested in user preferences) has anything to worry about.
26.12.16 Updated the Preference system used in the ベスト攻撃者 and チーム推薦 tools. Pokemon suggestions can now be removed based on every Pokemon-FastMove combination in the game. If you don't want to be suggested to use Dragonite-DragonBreath because you don't have one, just click the skip button. You can manage your preferences and enable\disable Pokemon in bulk at your Preferences page.
24.12.16 Happy holidays everyone :) I took some time to re-write the pathway from Pokemon Go's gamemaster into Poke Assistant's database for moves and movesets in preparation for Gen 2. You'll see now that on the わざ一覧 and 技の組み合わせ pages that all gen2 Pokemon are included exactly as Niantic's game-data describes their moves. Evidently many of the Pokemon still have temporary moves. But now things are smooth and re-written so that when a change happens in the game, it can be piped in immediately for your use at Poke Assistant.
It's been a really enjoyable few months since starting Poke Assistant during Pokemon Go beta. I'm still just blown away and really happy so many people enjoy using the site. Please keep your feedback coming. Best of luck finishing off your Gen 1 collection, I myself will be taking the holiday event chance to get some Bulbasaur. Have fun :)
17.12.16 進化シミュレーター re-written in Javascript. Much faster for you, less data usage on your mobile and cheaper for us to run. Easy win-win.
12.12.16 ポケモン統計 for Gen 2 confirmed.
11.12.16 Attacker tier list added. Type Chart added for quick reference. Increased linking across the site, e.g. all suggested counters at ベスト攻撃者 can be clicked and hotlink directly to their own best coutners.
4.12.16 Gen 2 Pokemon now factored in across the entire site. All 16 languages updated to support generation 2 Pokemon. DPS calculation changed to ignore the 500ms press and hold required since it can now be qued (increases the stated DPS for charge moves). We've got something in the works to tie together Stardust Strategy and ベスト攻撃者.
23.11.16 All ポケモン統計 updated to yesterday's buff/nerf. Evolver, IV Calculator and entire site now reflecting new Pokemon stats.
13.11.16 Added a guide on Gen 2 Preparation. 進化シミュレーター updated to also show Gen 2 Pokemon in searches. ポケモン統計 updated to included all Gen 2 Pokemon stats and max CP. ベストディフェンダー updated to also include Gen 2 Pokemon.チャンスをキャッチ updated to latest science.
06.11.16 Added a guide on How to Dodge
30.10.16 Big update batch. Pidgey Spam updated to account for the drop in evolution time cost decreasing from 24 to 21 seconds. Russian language added. All 15 other languages updated and tweaked thanks to the awesome folks contributing to the PA Localisation. The IV Calculator and other sections have be tweaked to facilitate internationalisation better. Just crossed 17 million unique users worldwide. Leaning the backend and cleaning up for speed under the hood.
10.9.16 Stardust strategy added.
7.9.16 Buddy stats page added. Search box added to Move Sets to allow for faster searching.
28.8.16 IV Calculator updated for another optional input to limit results based on appraisal hint to best stat value.
27.8.16 Catch Chance calculator updated to factor in circle size. Maximum inputs on Pidgey Spam lifted to 100,000 for those intense Pidgey spammers. Many small site optimisations for speed.
27.8.16 Bunch of fixes. Most important is the IV calculator now shows all combinations and doesn't truncate the table past 20. Table is now sortable if you want to play with it. UI tweaks, should display better on tablets. Leaning and optimisations. Updated トレーナーギア.
24.8.16 個体値計算ツール updated to allow users to enter in the new information provided by Team Leaders on which of the Pokemon's stats is the best. While it will vary from Pokemon to Pokemon, the new information reduces the possible IVs by 25%-90% in most cases and has signficantly increased the chance of knowing the exact IVs on the first search.
21.8.16 Unobtainable moves added back and viewable in the 技の組み合わせ, unobtainable moves are displayed with their name strike through formatted. STAB is now applied and moves DPS is now bolded in the moveset and ベスト攻撃者 tool if STAB has been applied.
20.8.16 Movesets updated sitewide to latest versions from Niantic. We'll add back legacy movesets shortly for perspective. Minor UI changes to the IV calculator. Tweaked the Best Defender formula to not punish Pokemon with many weaknesses as much. Formula displayed at the bottom of the page.
IV Calculator updated so that you only have to choose a Pokemon and it will show you the base stats, CP, HP and slider bar without needing input valid stats to find potential IVs.
Pidgey Spam time cost updated to more accurate 24 seconds to evolve a Pokemon + 3 seconds to transfer the evolution. New XP/hour analysis added to 攻略・裏技.
IV Calculator accuracy increased thanks to u/kbard. International language rollout underway.
Code changes to allow for full site internationalisation. Phase one will be localising all menus and stat names in our existing languages. If you'd like to see more of PA in your local language. Comment on the PA Localisation sheet to improve the translations. If your language isn't listed, add it by copying and completing Add a Language, then submit a link to your filled out sheet via Feedback.
Move List moves can now be expanded to show the Pokemon that have the move. Clicking on a pokemon then links to its moveset.
DPS Calculations refined, view movelist for details. Pokemon Go Gear list added.
Android Chrome users can now "Add to Homescreen" to receive stand-alone, near native appearance and offline IV Calculator functionality.
IV Calculator updated with a slider so you can view stats at different levels. It's now effectivly an IV calculator and accurate evolve calculator in one.
Input fields will now auto-clear when you select them. It's the little things in life. Much faster scanning IVs now.
All move powers updated to match version 0.31.0.
A shiny new mobile interface. We don't own every phone in the world, if you have a weird display bug, please screenshot it and submit it via Feedback.
Fixed a bug for our non-English speaking trainers. Selecting your language below will now clear chache and repopulate all the dropdowns on the site.
Added Pidgey Spam and a bunch of under the hood changes for speed.
Fixed an input bug on the Best Attackers tool for iPhone users. Updated IV Calculator to show min and max scores as well as expected Dust and Candy costs required to power up to max level.
Full Pokemon Go Moveset has been added direct from the game itself. Thank you to all those contributors who added moves over the past months. Side, note, looks like move diversity has shrunk a lot in official launch. Only 840 movesets compared to 1200 in beta.
Whole site now uses the known type tables for Pokemon Go instead of series 6 estimations. All tools now using this table.
IV Calculator updated to allow you to refine results after Power-up. Max Level CP and HP for each Pokemon also shown.
Best Attackers updated to factor in Pokemon defence, attack and move DPS. Preferences from Team Suggest tool now also exclude Pokemon you don't want to see.
Move List updated to show all moves in the game order by DPS. All move power and cast times now known.
Pokemon Stats updated. All Pokemon sorted by rarity since launch with all stats including attack scores and capture chances.
Best Defenders updated to include defence and HP scores for all Pokemon in Pokemon Go.
Added new Evolver Tool. Find out if your 400CP Pidgey would be better than your 745CP Pidgetto before you risk your candy!
Added new Care Package Table recording when items are first awarded. Capture screenshots and submit them to add to the table.
